Cookie Notice
How optional analytics work, and how you stay in control.
Last updated: 9 August 2026
The short version: we use Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookies. We do not use advertising or social-media trackers, and rejecting analytics does not stop the site from working.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device, usually to remember something between visits. UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) requires your consent before a site stores anything that is not strictly necessary for it to work.
What this site stores
The following may be stored when you interact with the site:
- Optional analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics
stores identifiers such as
_gaso we can understand visitor numbers, sessions, approximate location, and browser or device information. If you reject analytics, the Google tag is not loaded. - No advertising or social trackers. There are no tracking pixels on this site.
- No web fonts loaded from third parties. Our fonts are served from this site's own server, so no request, and no IP address, is sent to Google or any font provider when you visit.
- Your cookie preference. If you make a choice in our cookie banner, we store that choice in your browser's local storage so we do not ask again. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
When you use a form
The newsletter form sends data elsewhere when, and only when, you submit it:
- The newsletter form sends your details to Mailchimp. That request goes to Mailchimp's servers and Mailchimp may set its own cookies at that point. This happens only because you asked to subscribe.
This is covered in more detail in our Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find and use the site. It is optional: the Google tag will not load unless you accept the analytics category. You can change your mind at any time using the button below.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking analytics cookies will not stop this site working.
